Laila Peak Expedition
Laila Peak 6,090 meters is one of the most beautiful and worth seeing sights of the snow covered mountains in Pakistan.The beautiful Laila Peak is located near Gondogoro glacier. The peak is synonymous with its west face which drops down the mountains at almost uniform gradient forming a giant ramp. Its northern and eastern sides consist of contrasting steep granite.

This mountain lies at the east of Gondogoro valley and west of Chogolisa in the Masherbrum Mountains of Baltistan. The Trekkers and climbers flash this snow covered peak while crossing the Gondogoro pass and attracted by its distinctive spear-like shape sticking out in the sky. This Peak got attention in 2005, when Fredrik Ericcson and Jorgen Aamot ski down this beautiful mountain, before Gasherbrum II ski in 2005 during their expedition. They made a ski on Gasherbrum-II 8035m but could not make it on Liala from the top. But they ski down from 200 meter below the summit on this beautiful mountain. They described its height as 6614m. After unsuccessful ski trip Fredrik and Jorgen went up to Gashabrum-2.
A needle Shape Peak with High views
One of the most amazing mountains like a needle pointing straight up in the sky. Its North West flank has a steepness of 45-50 degrees in more than 1500 vertical meters.The lower part of Laila Peak is cover with soft snow; the upper part is cover with thin layer of ice. Laila Peak is mixture of ice climbing and rock climbing peak. Climbers can see all the majors peaks of Karakorum including K-2,Broad Peak, Gasherbrum peaks and many others from the top. Laila Peak is the most desirable tourism point of skiers and lovers of natural beauty. Its a perfect place to enjoy the sightseeing in relaxing atmosphere with cool breeze of air. You need a trekking permit from the Ministry of Tourism to visit this Peak.
Laila Peak Ascend and Descend
The mountaineers can climb this peak in a single day with a strong party from an advanced base camp on the east side of the Gondogoro glacier. With approximately, 1500m ascent many people will choose to bivi on route then summit and descend on the second day. Climbing is mid-grade with an inclination of no more than 55 degrees. The lower section of the climb is mixed giving way progressively more ice towards the summit. The easy, nearby Gondogoro Peak (5650m) is a great option for acclimatization if so desired. Generally, this peak is more technical as compared to many high peaks.
